“The GSA aims to make our campus fun and helpful for students who want to be more involved, whether it be through research, community service or social events,” said GSA President Jillian Evalle, M.S. candidate in basic medical sciences who also serves as the social media ambassador for the GSBMS.

The GSA has several events planned for the year leading up to Graduate Student Research Forum (GSRF) on March 15, 2022, where research conducted by GSBMS students is showcased and discussed amongst faculty and peers. “We are looking forward to a successful GSRF for students to share their research and explore other scientific fields of interest,” Ms. Evalle said.

Future events also include in-person fall socials, the second annual GSA 5K that will be virtual, and the Sheltering Arms Winter Gift Drive—although the dates for these events have yet to be determined.

“Since last year was remote, this is the first time for all of us to be on campus. Our approach for this academic year is very positive and we are grateful to once again finally be able to experience student life at NYMC,” Ms. Evalle said. “Each student on the GSA Executive Council is passionate about their position and together we’re excited to re-establish campus life at NYMC.”
