“The purpose and mission of this food drive aligns with the missions of NYMC, where food insecurity plagues our country and our state," said David Zuckerman, SOM Class of 2023 and FIMO president. “More than 10 percent of New York State citizens are food insecure. Giving back to the community in this way is really rewarding, especially seeing the health community helping in such a meaningful way.”

After one year on campus, the FIMO members were thrilled with the success of their collections. The Spring Food Drive collected as much food as their Thanksgiving Food Drive in a fraction of the time.

“Thank you,” exclaimed Kaleb Noruzi, SOM Class of 2023 and FIMO event coordinator.  “We really appreciate the turnout for the food drive. We have so many FIMO volunteers who set aside time from their busy schedules and actively volunteer at food pantries and distribute food items to families on a weekly basis and we’re thankful for their help.”
