The Office of the Registrar

 What are your office’s responsibilities?

The registrar is responsible for the maintenance and integrity of student records and acts as a central communications resource for policies as they relate to the management and privacy of student records. Key functions include the setup and support for registration, grading, and graduation as they relate to the student information system, self-service functions, the official transcript of record.  Additionally, the Registrar’s Office coordinates academic calendars in collaboration with the dean’s offices and produces student data for internal and external constituents.

How would you describe the day-to-day functions of your office?

The day-to-day functions of the Office of the Registrar include corresponding with and responding to students, graduates, faculty, deans, staff and outside vendors. On any given day you can find us maintaining the student information system, analyze student data for reports, maintaining the coding behind Degree Works, updating internal procedures, providing Degree Works and Tableau support and training, or working on special projects that provide new and exciting technological innovations for the NYMC/TCDM community.

What is the office’s most-asked question by students/faculty/alumni?

Students frequently ask about grades and various designations regarding their transcripts, which can be found on the transcript key. Faculty predominantly ask how they can change grades when necessary, which can be requested by emailing the registrar. Alumni often request transcripts which can be found by visiting the NYMC transcripts page for instructions.

What is one thing you'd like students to know about your office?

We service all schools on the NYMC campus—the School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences and the School of Health Sciences and Practice as well as the Touro College of Dental Medicine— and we always have time for any student, advisor, dean, graduate, faculty member or staff member.
