Peter Panzica, M.D., Joins Westchester Medical Center Health Network as Director of Anesthesiology and New York Medical College as Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology

Valhalla, N.Y. – The Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) and academic affiliate New York Medical College recently named anesthesiologist Peter Panzica, M.D., as Director of Anesthesiology for WMCHealth’s Valhalla and Poughkeepsie campuses, as well as Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology and associate professor of anesthesiology at New York Medical College.

Dr. Panzica will oversee all anesthesiology services at Westchester Medical Center and Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla and at MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie.

Board certified in anesthesiology, Dr. Panzica brings to WMCHealth extensive clinical expertise, including clinical interests in cardiac anesthesia, transesophageal echocardiography, transplant anesthesia, thoracic anesthesia, and practice management. His expertise also includes operating room management, efficiency and process improvement.

Prior to joining WMCHealth, Dr. Panzica most recently served as Clinical Director and Vice Chief of the department of Anesthesia at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, and as an assistant professor of anesthesiology at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Panzica earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. He completed an internship in anesthesiology at Winthrop University Hospital and a residency and fellowship in cardiac anesthesiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

A native of Staten Island, Dr. Panzica and his wife, Rita, are relocating to Westchester County with their two-year-old son, Henri. In his leisure time, Dr. Panzica enjoys cooking, collecting fine wine and playing golf.
