I welcome this opportunity to acquaint you with the residency training program of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Westchester, an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education program of New York Medical College.
The Department provides a comprehensive training program comprised of instructional, clinical, and research experiences. An integral part of the program is based at the Behavioral Health Center of the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, an academic medical center of New York Medical College.
The Behavioral Health Center is affiliated with several institutions in Westchester County and New York City which provide residency training and undergraduate medical education in psychiatry. In addition, New York Medical College affords a full complement of continuing medical education programs for practicing psychiatrists.
Clinical challenges that residents may encounter cover a wide range of inpatient and outpatient, adult, adolescent, and child psychiatry services, as well as subspecialty areas including consultation-liaison, geriatrics, emergency and crisis intervention. Research opportunities are available within all of these areas in conjunction with the Behavioral Health Center and our affiliated hospitals.
I want to stress that resident and medical student education is the highest priority of the Department. I look forward to meeting you in the future.
