After completing her training, Idelka Rodriguez, M.D., joined Montefiore Medical Group where she worked as a Primary Care Physician and served a diverse community of patients.  In 2018 she joined James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx; she provided care to female patients under the Comprehensive Women's Health Veterans Program. She enjoyed working with medical students and residents.  During her tenure, she was involved in different leadership roles. Dr. Rodriguez became the VA site director for the Prevention Medicine Residency Program at Mount Sinai and was the Manager of the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Program (HPDP) at the Bronx VA for two years. She was involved in multiple population health projects related to CVD prevention, Immunization uptake, Cancer Screening; etc. She was also the lead clinician for the Tobacco Cessation Program.

During the pandemic, she transitioned from that role and became the Co-Director and lead clinician of a COVID-19 After Care Program. This was a Recovery Program designed for veterans with persistent symptoms or sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC) AKA Long COVID.
