New York Medical College and Hudson Regional Health Achieve Milestone Accreditation with Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program
The Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program Will Begin at HRH’s Bayonne University Hospital This Summer
New York Medical College (NYMC) and Hudson Regional Health (HRH) have announced another significant regional healthcare milestone: the introduction of an orthopedic surgery residency program at HRH’s Bayonne University Hospital, beginning this summer. HRH’s application for the orthopedic residency program was recently approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the organization responsible for accrediting all graduate medical education programs in the United States.
HRH and NYMC previously announced an academic affiliation, in December, 2025, designating HRH as a teaching site for the education and training of NYMC medical students in family medicine, internal medicine, surgery, and now orthopedic surgery. This agreement established clerkships, sub-internships, and elective rotations at HRH’s facilities in Secaucus, Bayonne, and Hoboken.
“This milestone enables the admission of our inaugural class of orthopedic residents this July and reflects our steadfast commitment to advancing the quality of healthcare in Hudson County,” said HRH Chairman of the Board Yan Moshe. “It further underscores Hudson Regional Health’s mission to invest in physician education, expand access to high-quality care, and build a sustainable, community-focused healthcare system that serves the evolving needs of our region. I extend my sincere congratulations to Dr. Nizar Kifaieh, Dr. Vijayant Singh, Dr. Michael Hochberg, Dr. Vincent K. McInerney, and the entire Hudson Regional team on this remarkable achievement.”
“This expansion of our residency program marks yet another critical step in Hudson Regional Health’s continued growth as a leading academic healthcare institution in the tri-state area,” said HRH CEO and President Dr. Nizar Kifaieh. “We are proud to welcome our first class of orthopedic surgery residents this summer and further strengthen our partnership with New York Medical College - a collaboration that will continue to benefit the residents of Hudson County and communities across New Jersey.”
“This new orthopedic surgery residency is an important next step in our growing affiliation with HRH,” said Neil W. Schluger, M.D., dean of the NYMC School of Medicine. “Expanding NYMC’s graduate medical education programs in partnership with HRH allows us to prepare the next generation of physicians in diverse clinical environments while supporting the delivery of outstanding care in Hudson County. We look forward to deepening this partnership and pursuing new initiatives together.”
The addition of this newest program brings NYMC’s graduate medical education consortium to 40 residency and fellowship programs across teaching hospitals in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.
