Dr. Tracey Milligan and Dr. Sarah Parauda Honored on National Stage with Top Neurology Awards

Dr. Milligan Received the Lifetime Achievement Award and Dr. Parauda Was Recognized for Excellence in Neurological Education by the American Academy of Neurology

Tracey Milligan, M.D., FAAN, right, professor and chair of the Department  of Neurology, was recognized with the A. B. Baker Award for Lifetime Achievement in Neurologic Education on April 20 at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) in Chicago. The Academy’s highest honor in education, this distinguished recognition reflects a career of sustained, transformative impact on neurologic education.

Dr. Milligan, who also serves as chair of neurology for the Westchester Medical Center (WMC) Health Network, is nationally recognized for her leadership in curriculum design, faculty development, and mentorship, as well as for advancing learner-centered teaching and innovative educational strategies across undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education.

“It is a tremendous honor to receive the A. B. Baker Award,” said Dr. Milligan. “Neurologic education is fundamentally about developing thoughtful, compassionate physicians. I am grateful to the many learners, colleagues, and patients who have shaped this journey.”

At NYMC and across the WMCHealth Network, Dr. Milligan has led initiatives that expand access to high-quality neurologic education, strengthen training programs, and foster a culture of collaboration and growth. Her work has influenced educators and trainees nationwide and continues to shape the future of the field.

Sarah Parauda, M.D., left, assistant professor of neurology, was also recognized at the meeting with the A. B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award, one of the AAN’s most respected honors, for excellence in neurological education. In addition to her faculty role, Dr. Parauda serves as an attending neurohospitalist and stroke neurologist at WMC, and as associate program director of inpatient curriculum and director of mentorship for WMC’s Neurology Residency Program.
