The principal source of information and files concerning faculty appointments lie within the School of Medicine (SOM) Office of Faculty Affairs for the SOM and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBMS). The SOM Office of Faculty Affairs is responsible for maintaining complete and accurate records of SOM and GSBMA faculty appointments, promotions and terminations.
Faculty appointments and promotions process is handled by the SOM Office of Faculty Affairs for both SOM and GSBMS. The SOM/GSBMS Tenure, Appointments and Promotions Committee is a committee of SOM faculty and is charged with ensuring that scholarly achievement and excellence are the criteria for academic advancement, independent of whether a faculty member's achievements derive primarily from clinical, teaching, research or administrative contributions to the department, institution and medical and scientific communities. Selection of individuals for appointment and promotion to the SOM and/or GSBMS faculty and awarding of tenure must be in accordance with the highest standards.
