Patricia Johnson, M.D., is an attending physician specializing in Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base Surgery, with clinical interests in allergic rhinitis, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks, nasal obstruction, and nasal polyps.
Dr. Johnson is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Foundation, the American Rhinologic Society, and the North American Skull Base Society. Her academic work includes peer-reviewed publications and national and international presentations, with a particular focus on advancing research and awareness of gender disparities in rhinology and skull base surgery. She has also contributed to medical education as faculty for skull base surgery courses and as a published author in foundational otolaryngology texts.
As a Hudson Valley native, Dr. Johnson joined the faculty at NYMC in 2023. She currently serves as the associate program director of the otolaryngology residency and the physician lead of the Inpatient Advanced Practice Provider team at Westchester Medical Center.
Following her fellowship, Dr. Johnson joined the Division of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Allegheny Health Network (AHN) in Pittsburgh, PA. As the first rhinologist at AHN, Dr. Johnson was pivotal in helping to foster the new Otolaryngology Residency Program.
Along with her commitment to hands-on education of residents and APPs, Dr. Johnson has done in-depth research on gender disparities in rhinology and formulating guidelines for the workup and treatment of acute invasive fungal sinusitis. Her contributions to texts for trainees have focused on allergy and transorbital neuroendoscopic surgery techniques.
