The Division of General Internal Medicine provides the foundation upon which many of the other patient care services at NYMC's major clinical affiliate Westchester Medical Center rely. The Division has expanded from four general internists to the current staff of 30 full-time physicians and continues to grow. The hospitalist group is an integral part of the care delivery of medicine as well as the teaching of house staff and medical students.
Members of the Division are very active in clinical research and coordinate many research projects. Areas of research interest include technological solutions to patient care, quality improvement and patient safety, epidemiology, decision analysis, healthcare research, screening for and early detection of disease, ethics, and innovative methods of clinical teaching.
The Division operates a group practice providing outpatient services in new offices located at 19 Bradhurst Ave., Hawthorne, where physicians provide patient services just a few minutes from Westchester Medical Center.
