Dental Medicine Residencies

The New York Medical College School of Medicine Department of Dental Medicine has two residency programs: the General Practice Residency and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Residency.

The General Practice Residency is a one-year (second-year optional) program accredited by the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA). The NYMC General Practice Residency trains at four sites, NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, Westchester Medical Center, Phelps Hospital/Northwell Health and Open-Door Family Medical Centers and fulfills the New York State requirements for licensure by PGY-1 training as well as a mandated 12-month post-doctoral year.

The four-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Residency accepts two candidates each academic year. The program also offers an M.D. option at the NYMC School of Medicine to those qualified residents who successfully complete the OMFS program. The program is designed to provide clinical, didactic, and hospital experience at the postdoctoral level as well as scholarly activities.  The residents train at two clinical training sites, NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan and Westchester Medical Center. The program is accredited by the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA).
