Educator and Accreditation Manager, Public Health School of Health Sciences & Practice

Thomas McAdam joined the Center for Disaster Medicine at New York Medical College as an educator and accreditation manager. In this role, he supports the design, delivery and accreditation of emergency medical and disaster preparedness training programs for health care providers and first responders across New York State.

Thomas brings a background in epidemiology and EMS data analytics. He gained hands-on experience in both state and federal emergency response systems with the New York State Department of Health's Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems and the Federal Emergency Management Agency Region II Response Division. During these internships, he learned about data-driven systems, disaster operations, and emergency preparedness. He contributed to projects such as surveillance of opioid overdoses, cardiac arrests, and respiratory-related emergencies.

As an active prehospital provider in Westchester County, Thomas integrates his clinical experience with his analytical training to advance data-informed improvements in emergency medical service systems. He holds a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) in Epidemiology and has published research examining racial and ethnic disparities in restraint and sedation during behavioral health emergencies.
