Emily R. Kaplan, DrPh, MPA, EMTP, CPPS joins New York Medical College as Assistant Director for the Center for Disaster Medicine at NYMC. Dr. Kaplan is a leader in Mobile Integrated Healthcare and Educator in Emergency Medical Services. Dr. Kaplan also services on the New York State BEMS Quality Assurance Committee and EMS Innovations committees. She sits on the advisory boards for EMS and hospital leadership academies. Dr. Kaplan is a nationally recognized expert in Emergency Medical Services workforce planning and development.  

Until this past November, Dr. Kaplan served as the National Director of the Clinical Practice Group with DocGo. Before joining DocGo she served as Director of the Montefiore Medical Center simulation center MECIS, and as an EMS educator with the Northwell Health System. In this tenure she led and supported development of education and quality improvement programs. During the same period she engaged as adjunct faculty in the Westchester Community College medical billing and coding and paramedicine programs.  Dr. Kaplan has practiced as a paramedic for more than 20 years and continues in clinical practice as a paramedic in Westchester County. Her areas of research focus on Emergency Medical Services workforce development, health status and readiness of the workforce, and delivery models of integrated care.  

Dr. Kaplan received her DrPH from New York Medical College and her MPA from Marist College. Her career has been dedicated to development of the EMS workforce, emergency healthcare management, quality improvement and patient safety, and novel delivery models of integrated healthcare. Dr. Kaplan has given presentations and advised on development of EMS systems both nationally and abroad.
