The Tru Golf – Apogee simulator is available for use by all NYMC and Touro College of Dental Medicine students, staff, and faculty members. The state-of-the-art simulator provides a realistic and immersive golfing experience with high-definition graphics and advanced tracking systems. There are multiple virtual golf courses to choose from with settings to adjust weather conditions, wind speed, and difficulty level for your skill set. There are a variety of practice modes for driving, iron play, or putting and realistic ball flight and physics based on advanced simulation algorithms.

The golf simulator was made possible by the generosity of the NYMC Board of Advisors and Martin S. Katzenstein, M.D. ’78, chair of the Board of Advisors, assistant dean for clinical affiliations, and associate professor of pediatrics. “We are happy to provide the NYMC community, particularly the students, with a distraction from their demanding days. Hopefully the golf simulator will be used by those learning to golf as well as by those who golf,” said Dr. Katzenstein.

Reservations for the simulator are required and there is a two-hour time limit per session. After reserving your tee time, the room may be accessed using your College-issued identification card or the Office of Public Safety can open the door remotely or in person by calling (914) 594-4226.

Instructions on how to use the simulator are available in the room and the room is under 24/7 video surveillance for your safety and security. You may bring your own clubs or there is a selection of clubs available for use.

The grand opening celebration included remarks by Alan H. Kadish, M.D., president, Touro University and NYMC; Edward C. Halperin, M.D., M.A., chancellor and chief executive officer, NYMC; Dr. Katzenstein; Carl I. Thompson, Ph.D., president, Faculty Senate and professor of physiology; and current student leaders as well as a live demonstration by golf author, analyst, and teaching pro, Nick Bradley.

“The grand opening for the new golf simulator was a huge success. We are incredibly lucky to have access to such an incredible facility. Much like medicine, golf is truly a skill of lifelong learning. I hope that we will be able to utilize the simulator between studies to learn and hone the sport. Thank you to those who made this amazing addition to our campus possible, and I look forward to the use of our new simulator,” said Alex Park, School of Medicine Class of 2026 and outreach coordinator for the Student Senate.

“This simulator will offer students a welcome respite from their studies. We are grateful to the Board of Advisors for their commitment to the health and wellness of our students,” said Bess J. Chazhur, M.S., chief development officer and executive director of alumni relations.
