StuHE Kicks Off the 2020-2021 Academic Year
StuHe can offer valuable information to future health care providers and researchers at New York Medical College.
The newly elected officers of the Student Healthcare Executives (StuHE) club in the School of Health Sciences and Practice are ready to carry out their goal of providing a network for students in healthcare administration to meet and exchange ideas on a local level. The group, established in 1999, is dedicated to equipping students with the knowledge and skills to be leaders in public health. “As a local chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives, it is our goal to inspire those around us with an understanding of the cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic influences on health and disease,” says Bryan Batista, StuHE president.
StuHE hosts several events throughout the year including a career mentor session and National Public Health Week and participates in fundraising activities including the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. They also monitor and coordinate volunteers for the new food pantry on campus.
While most members are from the Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) program, StuHE welcomes individuals from all programs and schools to join. “StuHe can offer valuable information to future health care providers and researchers at New York Medical College. After all, the best treatment begins with effective prevention,” says Mr. Batista who is pursuing his M.P.H. in environmental health science.
