Valhalla, NY – Sean Tedjarati, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., has been appointed Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Westchester Medical Center and MidHudson Regional Hospital, members of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at academic affiliate New York Medical College (NYMC), where he is currently a Clinical Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Tedjarati currently also serves as Chief Clinical Integration Officer at WMCHealth, responsible for the integration and strategic oversight of all clinical services across WMCHealth’s 10 hospitals, and will continue to serve in this role.

In his new role as Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Tedjarati will oversee all Obstetrics and Gynecology and women’s health services at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla and MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, including general obstetrics and gynecology, gynecologic oncology, maternal fetal medicine, gynecologic endocrinology and infertility, pediatric gynecology and urogynecology and female pelvic medicine.

Dr. Tedjarati joined Westchester Medical Center, the flagship of WMCHealth, in 2009 and served as Chief of Gynecologic Oncology and Robotic Gynecologic Surgery, as well as Associate Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2015.

Board certified in Gynecologic Oncology and Obstetrics and Gynecology, he completed residencies in Family medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University, as well as a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center and Research Institute in Houston, Texas. He also holds a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Business Administration degree with a focus on Leadership in Healthcare from Yale University. He is also a fellow of the Royal Canadian College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Canada.

He has been named a Top Doctor in Westchester multiple times. In 2017, he was honored with the Ellis Island Medal of Honor Award by the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations, an award that is officially recognized by both Houses of Congress as one of the nation’s most prestigious awards. He has received multiple national and institutional excellence in teaching awards and is recognized as a passionate leader in education and teaching in graduate medical education.

Dr. Tedjarati has contributed to the field of academic gynecologic oncology and has co-authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals and chapters in textbooks in Gynecologic Oncology. His clinical and research interests include robotic and radical/advanced surgical technologies, clinical trials with chemotherapy and targeted therapies for gynecologic malignancies as well as health care disparities and population health.

His other areas of interest and passions are patient-centered value based efficient healthcare operations and delivery, incorporating academic and educational goals. He has focused on leadership and management capacity development for healthcare providers. He has been involved in international health with a focus on women's health and rights, delivering and developing cancer care for women in developing countries for over 20 years.

In his leisure time, Dr. Tedjarati enjoys international affairs, martial arts, hiking and being outdoors, and international travel. He is involved in his faith community building and mentoring programs for disadvantaged and immigrant youth and volunteers internationally to address issues in women’s rights, women’s health and cancer care.

In addition to English, Dr. Tedjarati speaks French and Persian fluently and is conversational in Spanish.
