Accelerated M.P.H. Health Policy and Management

The Accelerated M.P.H. in Health Policy and Management is offered as a blended program with a combination of on-campus and online classes (residency required).

Program Description:
The accelerated M.P.H. with a concentration in Health Policy and Management is offered on-campus and online in a 12-month format over 3 consecutive semesters (summer, fall, and spring).  It is designed to complement the education of physicians and other healthcare practitioners by providing a deeper understanding of concepts and principles of public health, community outreach, and systems management. Graduates of our program will be focused on developing the skills needed to derive and implement solutions affecting healthcare from a policy, management and planning perspective. Graduates are able to deliver solutions to all areas of healthcare and in settings that are local, national or global in nature.

Students participating in the program will cultivate their knowledge and expertise in:

  • Concepts and principles of public health;
  • Health reform in the U.S.;
  • Socio-cultural components affecting community health needs;
  • The use of biometrics to evaluate the quality of patient care and delivery systems, including patient safety and quality improvement initiatives;
  • Environmental influences on public health;
  • The structure and management of healthcare delivery systems.

The faculty brings a wealth of experience to the classroom with professional background in law, medicine, corporate and research settings.  The cohort model and lock-step curriculum allows for maximum faculty contact and collaboration with fellow students. Courses that will be available online are taught by the same faculty as on campus, and academic standards related to curriculum, requirements and rigor are identical.

Program Format:
The schedule is designed to be completed in one year beginning in the summer semester.  The curriculum consists of 15 courses (42 credits) and public health Applied Practice Experience for a total of 43 credits.
