In partnership with NYMC and Touro schools, the School of Health Sciences and Practice (SHSP) is able to offer joint and dual degree programs for students who wish to broaden their skills, knowledge and career options. Application to any of these programs may only be submitted after first being accepted into their respective home program.
NYMC School of Medicine students with an interest in public health can earn an M.D./M.P.H. degree by combining the M.D. curriculum with the SHSP's M.P.H. program (43 credits plus a practicum and a thesis/capstone course). With careful planning, this can be completed in four years, though students may elect to take five years to finish both degrees.
Students who are accepted to the Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.) Program may matriculate for the Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree concurrently. Students must complete a separate application for the M.P.H. degree, however, no other documents are necessary. They will apply for admission to the M.P.H. program upon recommendation of the physical therapy chair in the spring of their first-year of the D.P.T. Program, and complete the M.P.H. requirements by the end of the year following their completion of the D.P.T. program.
The Pharm.D./M.P.H. is a collaborative program offered to students in the Touro College of Pharmacy (TCOP). Earning both a Pharm.D. and M.P.H. degree gives TouroCOP students greater flexibility within the pharmacy job market, and the ability to pursue a career with a public health focus.
