Training in experimental design and interpretation of data as well as hands-on experience with various state-of-the-art techniques used in modern research. Individualized interaction is provided in a faculty laboratory for approximately one semester. Within the context of an experimental question, students have the opportunity to learn diverse techniques including tissue culture, electrophysiology, confocal microscopy, recombinant DNA, digital imaging, protein chemistry and FPLC, immunohistochemistry, etc. Students present a “work in progress” seminar at the conclusion of each rotation.
Prerequisites: Open to Ph.D. students only, who must take this course twice.
Research: Hours to be arranged. Pass/Fail.
