Course Description:

This course provides an up-to-date, multidisciplinary view of the development of the cardiovascular system. Topics discussed in this course include: (1) the morphological and molecular events underlying formation of the heart and its remodeling into a four chambered structure; (2) the development of specialized tissues, such as the conduction system and cardiac valves; (3) blood vessel formation and development of the great arteries and coronary vessels; and (4) cardiac stem cells and regeneration of cardiac tissue in the adult.

Lectures: 2 hrs./wk. Letter-graded.
