The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of New York Medical College (NYMC) is dedicated to undergraduate and graduate education and excellence in Women’s Health Care. The department offers expertise in general ob-gyn as well as the subspecialties of maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology and pediatric/adolescent gynecology.
The department encompasses multiple clinical sites which include an academic medical center and a university teaching hospital for its residency programs and several teaching affiliates for its medical students.
Commission on Health and Health Care Disparities in OBGYN
The Department of OBGYN values diversity and inclusion. It is committed to eliminating health and healthcare disparities in OBGYN. We are working to be a better residency program through anti-racism, inclusivity, and community engagement.
The Department has established a commission with joint membership including faculty, administration, and residents to implement and sustain diversity efforts.
The educational curriculum aims to train medical students, residents, and faculty how to provide culturally competent, equitable, accessible, and high-quality care to all women. Changes implemented for all residents and faculty:

Sean Shaheen Tedjarati, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A. Dr. Tedjarati also serves as director of OB/GYN at Westchester Medical Center (WMC). He has previously served as division director of gynecologic oncology at NYMC and chief of gynecologic oncology and robotic gynecologic surgery at WMC.
