The Office of the Registrar now offers electronic transcripts (eTranscripts) and certified electronic credentials, known as a CeDiplomas.

Why did NYMC decide to offer eTranscripts and CeDiplomas?

eTranscript was instituted by central Touro University (TU) as a project to be implemented for all Registrar’s Offices within TU while CeDiploma was something I wanted to provide for our students. It was especially needed when the COVID-19 pandemic began to affect our operations.

What are the benefits of eTranscripts and CeDiplomas?

There are many benefits to eTranscripts, including how students and alumni can order transcripts anytime, free of charge, and receive them within a few hours. There is also reduced cost and time as opposed to printing and mailing paper transcripts. It is also a more secure way to send and receive documents, decreasing transcript fraud. CeDiplomas share many of the same benefits, as it provides a convenient and secure electronic option for diplomas that is validated by NYMC as an official diploma copy. This can be beneficial for employers who are seeking validation of education or for graduates who wish to share with their friends and family.

Why was it important to give students the option for electronic documents?

Aside from the many benefits in terms of its accessibility and convenience, it was important to implement CeDiplomas and eTranscript for our students and alumni because it is what they expect to have in this age of technology.

What kind of response to eTranscripts has your office seen since they became available?

Ninety-three percent of transcript requests in August 2022 were eTranscripts. The response has been amazing and has reduced the paper processing tremendously.  Students are quite happy that this option is now available, as it seems to be their preferred method for getting a transcript where it needs to go.
