Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.)

Program Timing

Our Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.) program begins in the Summer term, typically the first week in June.  We accept applications only for that term.

Application Process
Apply through the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service, PTCAS. Begin the online application process. Application for the Summer 2024 begins on June 15, 2023.

Application Requirements

  • Application: Submit your application and application fee by the deadline. The centralized application service, PTCAS, will instruct you on submitting recommendations and other required documents.
  • Official transcripts 
    • Official transcripts of all U.S. college courses, degrees, diplomas, and licenses are required and should be sent directly through PTCAS.
    • All foreign transcripts require grade sheets with an official evaluation of educational credentials, and a conversion to U.S. credit hours and grades, completed by a U.S. government-approved evaluation service. Foreign evaluations should be sent directly to the Admissions Office (not to PTCAS). We recommend World Education Services.
  • GRE- NOT REQUIRED
  • Prerequisite CoursesThese prerequisite courses must be completed prior to initial enrollment.
  • Volunteer/Work Experience: Your application must include evidence of at least 50 hours of volunteer or work experience in one or more settings under the direction of a physical therapist.
  • Recommendations:  We require two (2) recommendations:

       One reference must be from a professor that had you in class
       One from a physical therapist with whom a clinical observation was performed

  • Personal Essay/Statement of Purpose: We require a personal statement of approximately 750 words.
  • Custom Questions - Answer the NYMC-specific questions

International Students
International students must complete several additional requirements.

Application Review and Notification
Applications are reviewed from November 1st through April 3rd. Applicants are invited to campus for an orientation to the program and for a formal interview. Acceptances are issued on a rolling basis from November through April. Accepted students must submit a $500 deposit to guarantee their place in the class.
