Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.)

Program Timing

Our Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.) program begins in the Summer term, typically the first week in June. We accept applications only for that term.

Application Process
Apply through the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS). Applications for the Summer start open in June of the year prior.

Application Requirements

  • Application: Submit your PTCAS application and application fee by the spring deadline. PTCAS will instruct you on submitting recommendations and other required documents.
  • Official transcripts
    • Official transcripts of all U.S. college courses, degrees, diplomas, and licenses are required and should be sent directly through PTCAS.
    • All foreign transcripts require grade sheets with an official evaluation of educational credentials, and a conversion to U.S. credit hours and grades, completed by a U.S. government-approved evaluation service. Foreign evaluations should be sent directly to the Admissions Office (not to PTCAS). We recommend World Education Services.
  • Prerequisite Courses: Prerequisite courses must be completed prior to initial enrollment.
  • Volunteer/Work Experience: Your application must include evidence of at least 50 hours of volunteer or work experience in one or more settings under the direction of a physical therapist.
  • Recommendations:  We require two (2) recommendations:

One reference must be from a professor who had you in class
One from a physical therapist with whom a clinical observation was performed

  • Personal Essay/Statement of Purpose: We require a personal statement of approximately 750 words.
  • Custom Questions - Answer the NYMC-specific questions
