Accelerated M.P.H. Generalist

The Accelerated M.P.H. Generalist is offered as a blended program with a combination of on-campus and online classes (residency required).

Program Description:
The accelerated M.P.H. Generalist is offered on-campus and online in a 12-month format over 3 consecutive semesters (summer, fall, and spring).  It is designed to complement the education of physicians and other healthcare practitioners by providing a deeper understanding of concepts and principles of public health, community outreach, and systems management. M.P.H. Generalist will allow students to tailor their educational experience by earning 18 and 21 elective credits in the overall 42-credit degree program. Students may choose elective courses based on interest or choose a concentration to fulfill the requirements for earning an Advanced Certificate (between 12-18 credits) in areas such as Global Health, Health Administration, Health Education, and Emergency Management.

The faculty brings a wealth of experience to the classroom with professional backgrounds in law, medicine, corporate, and research settings.  The cohort model and lock-step curriculum allow for maximum faculty contact and collaboration with fellow students. Courses that will be available online are taught by the same faculty as on campus, and academic standards related to curriculum, requirements, and rigor are identical.

Program Format:
The schedule is designed to be completed in one year beginning in the summer semester.  The curriculum consists of 14 courses (42 credits).

  • Summer – 4 courses (12 credits)
  • Fall – 6 courses (18 credits)
  • Spring – 4 courses (12 credits)
  • Comprehensive examination
