Edward C. Halperin, M.D., M.A.
Director of Bioethics (SHSP)

Professor of radiation medicine and of pediatrics, Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of New York Medical College; Provost for Biomedical Affairs for Touro University. 

Dr. Halperin is a pediatric radiation oncologist and has an M.D. from Yale University and M.A. from The Graduate School of Duke University. Dr. Halperin teaches the required first-year medical school course on the history of medicine and has published on the history of medicine and medical ethics in the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Lancet Oncology, Academic Medicine, The Pharos, American Journal of Medical Sciences, American Surgeon, and the Southern Medical Journal.

John Loike, Ph.D.

Professor of biology at Touro University's Lander College of Arts & Sciences, joined Touro in the Fall of 2017 after serving as the co-director for graduate studies in the Department of Physiology Cellular Biophysics and director of special programs in the Center for Bioethics at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Loike's biomedical research focuses on how human white blood cells combat infections and cancer. Dr. Loike lectures internationally on emerging topics in bioethics, organizes international conferences and has over 150 papers and abstracts published in the areas of immunology, cancer and bioethics.

He has published many groundbreaking articles on bioethics and specifically deals with bioethics from a Jewish perspective. Dr. Loike has a Ph.D. from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Angela Rosetti

Ms. Rossetti is a senior biopharmaceutical executive who brings more than 20 years of industry experience. She has served as a strategic consultant to Kala Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since October 2021, and prior to this was a consultant to Celgene Corporation. From June 2015 through July 2017, Ms. Rossetti held the position of Executive Vice President of Cell Machines, Inc., an early-stage biopharmaceutical company developing novel protein therapies where she assisted with the commercialization of technology for hemophilia and other diseases. Ms. Rossetti has held a number of positions within pharmaceutical commercial development, marketing, communications and finance, including Vice President of a Global Commercial Medicine Team at Pfizer Inc., where she led a global smoking cessation campaign. Ms. Rossetti currently holds positions as an adjunct Assistant Professor of Medical and Pharmaceutical Ethics at New York Medical College and an Adjunct Associate at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Ms. Rossetti graduated from a joint program between Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law with an M.S. in Bioethics. She received an M.B.A. from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in Biology and English from the University of Pennsylvania.

     
Rabbi Tzvi Flaum --Bioethics Program

 

Rabbi Tzvi Flaum
Professor of Judaic Studies 

Rabbi Flaum is currently Chairman of the Vaad HaRabbanim of Far Rockaway and Lawrence. He is a member of the Medical Ethics Commission and Vaad Halacha of the RCA and the Board of Governors of the Association of Orthodox Jewish Scientists.

Karen Sutton, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of History at Touro University.

She received a Fulbright Award for research and has won the Diversity in Teaching Award from the Association of Orthodox Teachers. Dr. Sutton currently serves on the Board of Directors for the David Wyman Jewish Institute for Holocaust Studies.
