NYMC Dermatology Residency Program has a robust cosmetic service with clinics scheduled both weekly and monthly. It is noteworthy to mention that the residents are the primary surgeons in all cosmetic cases preformed. In these clinics, residents get exposed to all cosmetic aspects of fillers and neurotoxins under the guidance of cosmetic experts. The residents also learn to become proficient in chemical peels, sclerotherapy and scar revision. Other routinely preformed procedures include microneedling, split earlobe repair and blepharoplasty. All dermatology residents participate in a monthly cosmetic clinic and separate monthly laser clinic.
A dedicated laser clinic occurs monthly on Monday afternoons. The latest state of the art lasers are available to the residents for use on various conditions such as varicosities, hair removal, scar revision, tattoo removal and skin rejuvenation. Examples of lasers used regularly include Pulsed Dye, Carbon Dioxide, Ablative Fractional, Non-fractional, and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy.
