Degrees & Programs

The Graduate School offers nine Master of Science programs: six programs that are disciplined based, two programs that are intended for students looking to pursue a career in the health professions, and a professional science master's program. We also offer a Ph.D. program in six specialties, including a dual-degree option leading to an M.D./Ph.D.  

Master of Science Programs

The nine M.S. programs are:

Discipline-based:

  • Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
  • Cell Biology
  • Microbiology and Immunology
  • Pathology
  • Pharmacology
  • Physiology

Pre-professional oriented:

  • Accelerated Master’s Program (Interdisciplinary Basic Medical Sciences)
  • Basic Medical Sciences-Traditional (Interdisciplinary Basic Medical Sciences)

Professional Science Master's:

Each of the six discipline-specific M.S. programs also offers a Professional Science Master’s (PSM) track designed for students interested in pursuing careers in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other biomedical science industries – or in the government or not-for-profit sectors related to these fields. 

Doctor of Philosophy Program

Students enter the Graduate School via the Integrated Ph.D. program. Ph.D. degrees are awarded in six disciplines:

  • Cell Biology
  • Microbiology and Immunology
  • Pathology
  • Pharmacology
  • Physiology
