Personal Profile:

Dr. Adler joined the Division of Nephrology of New York Medical College in 1986 as an Associate Professor after spending four years at the University of Washington in Seattle with the noted nephrologist Dr. William G. Couser. Dr. Adler has been active in basic research, clinical trials, division administration, teaching and patient care. Currently, Dr. Adler oversees the faculty practice and operations of the division and is the Chief of Nephrology for Children's and Women's Physicians of Westchester, a large faculty practice group on campus. He has a joint appointment in the Department of Physiology and has collaborated with Dr. T. Hintze, Chairman of Physiology, on studies of renal NO production in disease and aging.

Professional Interests:

Dr. Adler serves as a key clinical faculty in the nephrology fellowship program and participates in didactic teaching of fellows in addition to acting as a teaching attending on the inpatient consultative service 7-8 weeks every year. He has done investigative work in immunologic kidney disease, the role of oxidant stress in aging and hypertension and more recently clinical trials involving control of bone/mineral metabolism in dialysis patients and prevention of progression of Polycystic Kidney Disease. He also oversees the research program for the nephrology fellows.
