Professional Interests:

Dr. Rao is a NYS licensed clinical psychologist in Child Welfare Services at WIHD and Co-Director of Psychology Training at WIHD. Dr. Rao received her BA from Boston University and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford. At WIHD, Dr. Rao is the coordinator for an intensive in-home parenting program serving parents with intellectual disabilities, which uses a curriculum she co-developed to specifically address the specialized needs of this population. Additional responsibilities include providing assessment and clinical services to children and families involved in the child welfare system and evaluating young children with developmental delays, as well as supervising graduate students in these activities. Dr. Rao has presented at both local and national conferences, including the Annual International Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment and the National Victims of Crime Conference.
