Background and Professional Interests:

Before joining NYMC in 2020, Paul T. Diamond, M.D., FAAPM&R, served as director of neurorehabilitation and associate professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with the University of Virginia Health System (UVA Health), which he joined in 1992. In addition to his clinical and administrative roles at UVA Health, he held a variety of academic appointments, including director of residency training, director of research, and vice-chair and interim chair of the department. 

Board-certified in both internal medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation, Dr. Diamond earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed residencies in physical medicine and rehabilitation and internal medicine at John Hopkins University. Dr. Diamond has contributed greatly to the field of rehabilitation medicine, having held several NIH and other grants, presenting nationally, and publishing over sixty abstracts, journal articles and book chapters. His clinical and research interests include stroke outcomes, rehabilitation interventions and virtual reality applications in stroke rehabilitation.
